Gifts from Puerto Rico: What to Send Your Family in the States

When family lives in the States, any date is a good excuse to send them a piece of the island: a birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, or just a regular Tuesday when they miss the coffee from home. Gifts from Puerto Rico have something you won't find at a mall in Orlando or New York: the flavors, the brands and the memories from here.

This guide helps you choose by person and budget, build a box that travels well, and understand how shipping works.

Puerto Rico gifts by person

For the coffee lover

The one who doesn't start the day without their cup. A 100% island coffee like Café Old San Juan, their usual brand like Café Mami or Yaucono, and a mug with spoon and lid. No greca yet? Our stainless steel greca completes the gift. Help choosing: best Puerto Rican coffee brands.

For mom or grandma

Things that remind her of her kitchen back home: a wooden pilón with the flag, a San Juan houses kitchen towel, a painted tile for the wall, and her favorite candy.

For the kids

Candy and something to play with: pilones, platanutres, wooden maracas and a Puerto Rico cap.

For the one who just moved

Still setting up their place and missing everything: a Boricua-design towel, a Boricua Life T-shirt, a license plate for the wall, and good coffee for cold mornings.

For the host

The one whose house is always full: coquí dominoes, the 30 oz assorted candy party bowl and some shot glasses for toasting.

How to build a gift box that arrives well

1. Mix three kinds of things: something to eat (coffee or candy), something to use (mug, towel, T-shirt) and something to display (tile, license plate, maracas).
2. Think about the weather at the destination. In summer, avoid sweets that melt; in winter, a towel or T-shirt is doubly welcome.
3. Protect fragile items by surrounding mugs and glass with clothes or towels in the same box.
4. Add a handwritten note. It's free and it's what people remember most.
